Dear
Friends of Spring Hill Cemetery,
Yesterday was a beautiful day at the cemetery. Unfortunately, though, the cemetery was a mess. Winter storms had not been kind to Spring Hill. Not only was there a huge fir tree uprooted in the south west section of the cemetery (see picture 1), but also there were large branches of the other trees scattered everywhere. Leaves and grass obliterated our paths. Still six volunteers and 4 of Sonoma County's youth core gathered to tackle the mess under lovely sunny skies.
Faced with such cemetery chaos, our time was spent raking the paths and dragging downed tree limbs off the cemetery floor. We had SO much to drag off, that it overfilled the dump truck, we made a huge pile next to the dump truck, and left huge piles on tarps, scattered throughout the cemetery. Hopefully, Regional Parks will be by soon to collect them, and Spring Hill will be returned to its usual serene beauty. Many thanks to Regional Parks for, once again, sending us the youth core. Their help is invaluable!
I am hoping to hold our next workday May 8th. Regional Parks has yet to sign off on that date, though. Please pencil it into your calendars, and I will be sending updates on it.
