From The Petaluma Journal and Argus June 2, 1864 edition (copy from Susan Zeni):

A lad aged about 16 years, son of John McREYNOLDS, was drowned in the Lagoon, near Sebastopol, on Sunday last. Several hours after the occurrence his body was recovered by the assistance of Indian divers.
