This genealogy makes a common error according to Bill Trosper, a descendant of Thomas Gilbert Woolsey Trosper's brother, Peter (from a 18 Nov 2004 email):

...John Trosper was the father of Thomas Gilbert Woolsey Trosper. Evidently Ann Woolsey died prior to the family arriving in Kansas in 1858-59. Ann was the daughter of Thomas Woolsey and Phoebe Gilbert. Many Woolseys are buried in the Trosper Cemetery, Brekenridge, Missouri and many Gilberts are buried in the Bethel Baptist Cemetery on upper Richland Creek, Knox County, Kentucky. Peter Trosper was T. G. W.'s brother and my great great grandfather. The person buried on the other side of Peter's tombstone reads Telitha C. Dodson. This is Telitha Trosper who married Solomon Dodson after Peter Trosper died. Because there is only one marriage ever discovered between a Trosper and a Cain in this era and Solomon Dodson's obit refers to Telitha Cain from Kentucky many Trosper researchers believe that the person sometimes listed as John Trosper's first wife was actually his daughter in law who looked after him after Ann Woolsey died. Telitha's son Thomas Solomon George Washington Greeley Trosper (one name) was living with John Trosper (his grandfather) at the time of John's death which illustrates the closeness of this family...

 

 

From 18 July 2006 email:

...T. G. W. was 12 years old at the time of the 1838 Morman War, I don't know how active a part he could have had. Also T. G. W, was a 2nd cousin to Aggatha Ann, Emaline, and Rachal Andora Woolsey, 3 wives of the prominent Morman John Doyle Lee of Mountain Meadows Massacre fame. Their brother Thomas Woolsey was a member of the Mormon Regiment circa 1846. The 1838 Morman War definitely pitted cousin vs cousin.
