John had 9 children, 8 of whom lived to adulthood, and by 1930 half of them declared "Daddy was born in California and the other half said Missouri." So I guess that all of them were right, he was born in Missouri but "came" from California... John married Addie Widders on 1-19-1882 in Fayetteville, Washington County AR. Many of his descendents still reside in Washington County.
