Spring Hill Cemetery Work Days

Dear Friends of Spring Hill Cemetery,

Under a clear blue sky, fourteen of us gathered at the cemetery yesterday. We were delighted to have Richard and Helen Parmeter join us again all the way from Kansas City, MO. With their much-welcomed help, we had a productive day of path maintenance, cleaning headstones, pulling weeds, map revision, and debris removal. With all the late spring rains, there was an abundance of weeds and debris.

I have attached a few pictures of our labors. The first shows Patsy in the just cleaned Parmeter section of the cemetery. The second shows Helen Parmeter cleaning the bird droppings from our headstones (there must also be an abundance of birds this year in the cemetery, as they have left evidence on nearly all of the stones...). The third picture is of Sally and Rick clearing the paths and removing invasive plants. Sally was kind enough to donate more redwood logs, which we used to continue renewing the path liners. The last shot is of the group standing near the Zilhart enclosure and showing a lovely, cleaned, redwood-lined path.

As it has been over a year already since the map was produced, Paul Schoch has offered to update our official Spring Hill map. Friday I double-checked our additions for the last year. We had four; two returned headstones (James Erb and Mary Catherine Small), one uncovered footstone (Mary Robertson), and one identified grave site (Ada F Finley). Once the revisions are complete, I will pass on information on how to obtain a revised copy to those interested.

Note, there is no workday scheduled in July. Our next workday will be Friday, August 19th. Please mark your calendars and come join us!!

Best Regards,

Sue
