Notes:

Also known as Big Charlie. He was first cousin to his wife, Rebecca.
Came to California in 1841 as a member of the Bidwell-Bartleson party. An original "mountain man" and scout. Long-time friends with such people as John C. Yount and Joseph B. Chiles, Charlie Hopper was a significant figure in the early history of Napa County.
His son, Thomas B., married Mary E. Chiles, one would assume she is related to J. B. Chiles (though she is not his daughter).
