Notes:

Information about name and place of birth derived from:

1860 Census for son, Fred Wendt.

In Santa Rosa Rural Cemetery, 1853-1905 (Sonoma County Genealogical Society, Inc., Santa Rosa, Ca; 1st Edition, March 1980), I found a Dorothy Baker, born January 8, 1809, in Waganfeld, Germany and died May 23, 1890. Her husband was William Baker, her name is shown to be associated with SCHWAN and CHAMPION, and she is buried in plot MC 45 (page 30). A William Baker is also in plot MC 45. He was born in Weden, Prussia and died Nov. 13, 1883 at 64 (page 31). Though there are several Bakers, these are the only two who are in the same gravesite plot. There is a Lena Champion buried in MC 45 who died Jan 15, 1913 at 37. Her husband was George Champion, though hers is the only Champion in the Rural Cemetery. These names did not show up inSonoma County Marriage Records either.

Listed in Sonoma County Death Records 1873-1905 (Sonoma County Genealogical Society, Inc., Santa Rosa, CA: 1st Edition, March 1985) with much the same information as the cemetery records.

From conversation with Priscilla Talmage, a descendent

Listed in the 1870 Census as Dorthea.

Mrs. Baker was a resident of Santa Rosa for many years and was well-known to many of our old residents.
