Handwritten copy of entries in bibles by Terrie Morris, August 3,
1980 at the home of grandmother, Minnie Delcemia Cariker Martin (bible brought
by James Milton to my grandmother's home for us to see).
(NOTE by TM): some
dates hardly discernable ink very faint calligraphy made it also hard to assure
of dates copied: SO verify before inscribing in stone.
Note: bibles had
about 2 or 3 different handwritings.

Oh, about
the Watson bibles. Evidently, after I transcribed the bibles, Grandma had James
Milton made a photocopy of the pages including the inside cover. The Watson
bible was published in 1834 by C. Alexander & Co, Philadelphia. The
Adams bible was published in 1842 in
Boston by the B.B. Mussey company. Both Bibles are at least 8 1/2 by 11. I will
go back through the copy and recheck with my transciption. Oh, the Watson bible
also has in the back a listing of "Colored People of the Family" with the
earliest entry dated 1818 and the last entry Aug 1865.

I finally
was able to scan the newer copies of the Watson and Adams bibles from Flo
Adams, a distant cousin. She was able to get a copy from James Milton
Huff...
