Obituary for E. A. Wright
(from a clipping copied from Franklin Wright):

 (From Esther Wendt)

E. A. WRIGHT --On the 19th of January 1906 there passed from earth to the unseen world the spirit of Mr. E. A. Wright, in the 87th year of his age. He no doubt was the oldest in the county.
His was an extraordinary exemplary life. He never had a personal difficulty, broil, or lawsuit with any man in his long and peaceful life. Therefore he was an unusual citizen and neighbor.
His record as a confederate soldier was in keeping with high ideals of an untarnished name. He went from North Carolina into the Virginia Army and followed the fortunes and vicissitude of Lee and Stonewall Jackson. No soldier in that army of heroes did more loyal and faithful services in the cause for which they stood than he. Grandfather Wright has left an unsullied name to his large and useful family. There were born to him, fourteen children, fifty-five grandchildren and nine great grand children, the most of whom survive him; and many of them are honored men and women and truly devout Christians.
Bro. Wright was a devout member of this Baptist Church and had been almost a half of a century. He lived a life of the just and died the death of the righteous. He is now in the full enjoyment of his reward of good and holy.
The funeral was conducted by the writer, in the church that he did so much to build and maintain, and was largely attended by his friends and neighbors with six of the war begrimed old soldiers as pallbearers. He sleeps sweet neath the sod.
