Notes:

The history of the Wright family as told by the earlier generations in Woodruff County can be summarized as follows (extracted from a few handwritten notes in Ora Cain's notebooks):
The Wrights were MacWrights and were originally from Edinburgh, Scotland. The stories goes that they settled in USA during the 5th Presidential term in 1817. "According to the dates I have it was E. A. Wright's dad that came from Scotland between 1809 or 1817... Our clan saw all but the first 4 Presidents may have come when the fourth President was in office... He also saw the stars fall he was 13 years old in 1832."
Henry Wright had once told Ora's daughter, Gayle, that the Wrights left Ireland (MacWright is the Irish spelling of "son of Wright" whereas it would be McWright in Scotland) and lived in Edinburgh, Scotland until they could afford to come to America, and that the Wright family patriarch arrived in Maryland in 1819.
Ora Cain also wrote an article about E. A. and the Wright family, published in 1986 the Woodruff County Historical Society journal, Rivers And Roads And Points In Between.
These accounts vary somewhat from the documentation which has been found at this time by the more recent Wright family historians. Much remains to be proven with documented sources of this Wright history before E. A. arrived in Arkansas.
According to Michael Wright, a chief researcher in determining where the Wrights of Woodruff County came from, E. A. Wright returned to Troy, North Carolina after the Civil War for a short time, and then he, his wife, Sarah, and their family, moved to Fayette County, Tennessee in 1868 and then on to Woodruff County in 1871.
From the Woodruff County News (McCrory, G. W. Kramer, editor), Volume 1 Number 1, April 4, 1901, unnumbered pages (p. 3):
  E. A. Wright one of the oldest citizens of Woodruff County and an old Confederate veteran called at the News office on Wednesday. He has been a resident of this County since 1871.

There is an ambiguity about E. A.'s middle name, on whether it is Ausburn or Austin which also could be wrapped up in the question of his actual paternity.
In all the documentation found so far in Woodruff County, his name is always listed as E. A. Wright. In what is assumed to be his Civil War Service Record, there is this cryptic remark written: E. A. (not borne as Edward Ausburn) Wright... If he was not born as Edward Ausburn Wright, then who was this person and why did they make note of who he was not born as since there are no records listed in these files for another Edward Ausburn Wright? There are also two deeds recorded in Montgomery County, NC which the name Edward Ausburn Wright is recorded and presumed to be our E. A. Wright, though this is not completely conclusive in itself that there could only be one E. A. Wright in Montgomery County during this time, or that he was the grandson of Edward Wright.
Henry Wright and his children have claimed on the other hand, that our E. A.'s middle name was actually Austin, though no written documentation for a Edward Austin Wright has been found to support this family contention. To complicate the arguments for either side there is a Ausburn Wright as well as a David Austin Wright and a Elma Auston Wright listed among his descendants.
