Notes:

From Henry Hardin of California, by Fredna Tweedt Irvine (Belmont, MA: 1976), pages 103 -104:
Peter Harms Ricklifs emigrated from Hanover, Germany. He was born 20 April 1822 and died in California at the age of 82 on 24 December 1904. Except for the fact that his mother's name was Mary Harms, little is known about him until he married Elizabeth Jackson ca 1845/46.
Elizabeth Jackson was born in Indiana 26 August 1826. She was the daughter of Henry (?) and Mary (Close) Jackson. According to Grace Dutro Wilson, an intelligent and pious woman who had this information from family sources, Elizabeth Jackson was of the Thomas Jonathon "Stonewall" Jackson Family. She and Peter were living in Illinois when their second child, Serena Ann, was born on the 20 April 1848. They crossed the Plains in a covered wagon to California in 1849 and settled in Sonoma County. Peter and Elizabeth had ten children, and he became a successful rancher and owned a great deal of land. Elizabeth Jackson Ricklifs died 22 June 1890.
When George Wilson Jr. left California (1874), his wife, Serena, had a very difficult time taking care of her four little children. Some years later she found happiness in marriage, and died in 1920 and is buried in the Wilson Lot in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Glendale, California.
