Other information from Effie Mary Joy's application for DAR membership. Effie was Ida's first cousin in that E's father, Charles Morgan Cockrill was brother of Eliza L. Cockrill McGuire, and their parents were Henry Harrison Cockrill and Ruhamah Doyal.

I have not located Effie Joy's DAR application, however, she had sent some detailed family information to Glen Burton in the 1950's. Herbert J. Boothroyd has sent me copies of this material (he obtained them from Glen Burton in 1960) which is extracted below. Some of this material obviously appears to have been obtained from William Aaron Cockrill, while the apparent transcription of a family Bible record appears unique. |

| Your son called on us May 5th to inquire into the lineage of one of our ancestors, Wm. Anderson Cockrill and I promised to write to you and send what information I have collected from the family bible and from relatives. I too am interested in the genealogy of the Cockrills but am afraid that I know very little. Anderson Cockrill and Rebecca with their children and grandchildren came to Calif. from Missouri in 1853. The train consisted of thirty wagons drawn by four to six oxen each, via of the Pioneer Route. They landed in Sacramento October 1st 1853. Later, most of them settled in and around Santa Rosa.
