Notes:

He married a cousin of the Kendall brothers who married two of Calvin Davenport's sisters.
From Ellen Venable Poteet:
Calvin Davenport Venable was Colonel of the Confederate Fifth Tennessee Regiment from Henry County, and the last time he saw his brother Luther Rice Venable was on the battlefield at Shiloh. Shortly after the battle, Calvin Davenport was sent on a recruiting trip to West Tennessee, contracted pneumonia, and died before returning home. He owned a dry goods store at Paris Landing in Henry County before the Civil War and was a Master of Paris Lodge No. 108, Free Masons, in 1851, 1853, 1854, 1860, and 1861. He was also Clerk of the Henry County Court in 1849-50.
