Notes:

From Henry Hardin of California, by Fredna Tweedt Irvine (Belmont, MA: 1976), page 95:
Obituary -- " Amos Riley Hardin, Pioneer Stock man, succumbs... At the time of his death he lived on his great ranch at Longvale, Mendocino County. He was a man of remarkable physique, of a particularly jovial disposition and he loved life. He and his brother, C. H. E. Hardin, were members of the Bohemian Club of San Francisco, and prior to his marriage, Amos Hardin spent much of his time at the Club Headquarters. He and his brother were the two largest men, physically, who were ever members of the club. Mr. Hardin attended the Pacific Methodist College at Santa Rosa, and then studied law at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tenn. He was deeply interested in botany and horticulture and did much experimental and research work with Luther Burbank."
