[Joseph Venable] Made deposition for Elizabeth's [his sister] pension application on Rev. War services of her first husband, Joseph Barrett.

On Jan. 14, 1796 in a suit brought by Joseph Venable against William Fields in Spartanburg Co., SC court of General Sessions, one Robert Montgomery, Jr. entered the following: "in a fight with Joseph Venable, Jr. he (Robert) had a large piece bit out his left ear and appeared to petition the court that it be manifested before the world that it was not by corporeal punishment of the law of the land."

From the Allen County Kentucky (Order Book) Day Book 1826-1837, by Martha W. Jackson (Scottsville, KY, 1992):

p. 17. June 1827: The court appoint WILLIAM T. HENDERSON guardian to REBECCA L. F. and CHARLES M. S. HENDERSON infants of REBECCA L. HENDERSON decd. late consort of said HENDERSON upon his entering into bond with WALTER THOMAS & JOS. VENABLE his security, whereupon they entered into and executed bond as required by law in the penalty of $1000 conditioned as the law directs.

Assumed to be Joseph Venable, Jr.

Joseph Venable also appears in the Kentucky tax records for both Warren and Allen counties, though it is uncertain if it is him or his father.

In the Index To Kentucky Wills to 1851: the testators, edited by Ronald Vern Jackson, Gary Ronald Teeples, and David Schaefer Meyerthere (Utah: 1977) there are two entries for a Joseph Venable, the first is probably for Joseph Venable, Sr. his father:
