From McReynolds Family Westward Bound by Glenva Conklin (copied for me by Susan Zeni) pp. 51:

Clinton was born in Petaluma, Calif., the youngest of 3 children born to Isaac McReynolds and Julia Braden. Before 1880 they moved to Lewis County Washington but only for a short time when his parents divorced and Julia moved to The Dalles with the children. In 1881 Julia married George Obarr and Clinton lived in the Obarr Hotel until he was old enough to farm on one of his mother's farms.

It was a the hotel that he met Stella Turnbow (who worked there) and they were married in the parlour of the hotel 7 February, 1893.
