Notes:

Winifred Mary Bardin is the apparent writer of "Information Concerning the Family of Mrs. Jesse Bardin as told to Winifred (Bardin) Reidmiller by Nancy (Beaver) Maddock." The narrative is an early attempt by Bardin family members at detailing a history of Jeanette (Cockrill) Bardin's family. The family narrative exists in a confusing number of printed versions which appears to have been copied from some master with other genealogical material added, depending on which part of the family made the copy. Amid some fairly interesting and unique material, the narrative contains several undocumented assertions which appear incorrect in light of current research. It is difficult to date when the original narration might have been recorded, though one would assume that Mrs. Winifred Reidmiller might have originally written this information down as she heard it from Nancy Maddock, who was nearly 40 years older. That "Mrs. Theodore Cockrill" or "Mrs. Bob Cockrill" were believed to be still alive when the original was written gives some clue to the date of the original (once their vital data is finally determined). The hand-written documents here appear to be in the same hand and indicate by possessive nouns (such as document 3 below) that it is being written by a daughter of Jeanette Bardin's. One could suggest that Mrs. Reidmiller, rewrote her narration for various family members as her previous copies deteriorated with time.

Document 1. With title: INFORMATION CONCERNING THE FAMILY OF MRS. JESSE BARDIN AS TOLD TO WINIFRED READMILLER BY NANCY MATTOCKS.

Three pages.

Document 2. With title: INFORMATION CONCERNING THE FAMILY OF MRS. JESSE BARDIN AS TOLD TO WINIFRED READMILLER BY NANCY MATTOCKS.

Two pages.
First page similar to previous document.
Attached note:
"This signed John M. Ward Vander Friend neither of these copies is good because it written in pencil and is smudged. Not sure this is what you wanted."

Document 3. Handwritten family list beginning with Henry Beaver's family. Original papers appear to have been folded with some deterioration of paper at the creases. Some sections very difficult to read. Pages with hand numbers on top.

Eight pages.

Document 4. Typed family list on "Franklin H. Baker" letterhead which appears to be generally copied from document 3.

Two pages

Document 5. Handwritten document on lined paper (poor copy with unreadable sections in beginning). Looks like another copy of document 3 in the same hand.

Six pages.

Document 6. Handwritten pages which are very difficult to read which may or may not fit in another version of the document.

Three pages.

Document 7. Handwritten starting with "Information concerning the family of Mrs. Jesse Bardin..."

Four pages.

Many thanks to Rebecca Aileen Cockrill who sent me copies of the above documents.
