Notes:

Also known as Rev. Martin Coffman and Martin Kauffman.

Martin Coffman left the Mill Creek Church and Virginia over the issue of slavery. Along with a group of family members and a number of his father's followers they established the Pleasant Run Baptist Church in Fairfield Co., OH in 1806, which would not "correspond with any association or church that does in principle or practice hold involuntary slavery." Elder Coffman was also involved with Samuel Comer and David Beaver in the establishment of the Licking Baptist Church at Hebron in "Beaver's Meeting House."

Martin Coffman died in the Fall of 1824 according to an entry in Martin Beaver's Bible.

Further information about Martin Coffman's family can also be found at The Coffman/Kauffman Family website and The Descendants of Jacob Kauffman I (a document file from The Brehm/LaPella Family Tree Website).
