Notes:

From the History and Genealogy of the Bieber, Beaver, Biever, Beeber Family, by the Reverend Irvin M. Beaver (Reading, Pennsylvania; 1939), page 533-534:

...They settled in Licking twp. on land belonging to John Roads. Most of their married life was spent in this township. After the death of John Roads, his children made deed to each other, dividing the land. The date of these deeds was Dec. 16, 1831. Martin and Elizabeth took two tracts in Licking twp., one of 202 acres at $1011 dollars, and one of 333 acres at $1783. He lived on one or the other of these tracts. The last few years of his life were spent on a farm owned by his son Abraham and probably his son's home, just across the last line of Licking twp. in Franklin twp. Several of his children married into the Jersey community and Martin bought farms and settled them in Jersey twp. The land upon Martin's death was divided among his sons, Jacob heiring the home place, later in 1870 building an excellent new house upon it and buying back several of the borthers' portions. The farm is today in the Beaver family. According to his tombstone "he was for over 30 years a minister of the gospel." He was a minister of the Primitive Baptist Church and for a number of years pastor of the Harmony Baptist Church in Jersey twp. He traveled on horseback and pastored a circuit of three or more churches.

Martin Beaver's old Bible, now in the hands of Mrs. E. W. Cookson, 1429 Woodrow Court, Wichita, Kans., who has furnished considerable data of this family, contains many dates of the family, etc. Among the various items written with pen are the following:

"Uncle David Beaver died May 15, 1825."

"Uncle Martin Kaufman, mother's brother, died in the fall of 1824, and his son Michael, May 10, 1825."

"June 12, 1820 ---- commenced reading the Bible through by the assistance and instruction of His divine grace. Nov. 24, 1824, commenced to read this Bible through by the assistance of God. Martin Beaver." On Jan. 2, 1854, he was again rereading, and again on Jan. 4, 1860. The fly leaf of the old Bible says it was publishd by M. Carey, 121 Chestnut street, Phila., Pa., in 1813. It is bound in tan, almost brown with age. On the back of the front leaf, in script, is the following: "This Bible we will to Joseph Beaver of Jersey township, township, the first day of March, 1860. When we are done with it, and may it please God to enable him and his family to read it understandingly and practice the same, that God may prosper them in the divine life; is my prayer for Christ's sake, when we are gone. Martin and Elizabeth Beaver."

Joseph Beaver (son of Martin Beaver) was Mrs. Cookson's grandfather. Joseph gave the Bible to his son William and it is now in the hands of Mrs. Cookson...

Elizabeth Beaver died of typhoid fever during the epidemic of 1865, which took dozens of Licking Co. settlers. Martin Beaver d. a year later, also of typhoid fever, at the home of his son Isaac, near Hebron, O. Martin and Elizabeth Beaver lived together 50 years, 9 months and 22 days.
