Joseph died at an early age in Fauquier County, Virginia leaving an inventory proved on 25 May 1772. The inventory was approved by Charles MOREHEAD, John Hudnall, and Absalom Adams. Fauquier County, Virginia Will Book 1, page 197.

[Note: Joseph C. COCKRELL married Sally FOLEY 21 Dec 1827 in Fauquier County, Virginia. Joseph was born in 1788 in Fauquier County, Virginia. Taliaferro BALL was the witness to this marriage. Sarah FOLEY COCKRELL died 21 Jun 1856 in Harrison County, Virginia age 61 years 8 months. The same or a different Joseph COCKRELL married Elizabeth LAWRENCE 29 Nov 1857 in Harrison County, Virginia 29 Nov 1857. Elizabeth LAWRENCE of Fauquier County, Virginia was the daughter of William LAWRENCE of Fauquier County, Virginia. 1850 Census Harrison County, Virginia: Joseph COCKRELL, 58 Virginia and Sarah COCKRELL, 56 Virginia.]

William MORGAN Plt against Joseph COCKEREL Deft. On an Attachment.
This day came the Plantif in his proper person and the Constable having returned that he had attached Mare Bridle and Saddle, a man's hatt, two pair of half worn shoes, a bag with a parcel of wearing clothes and some new linen. And the Deft failing to reply the same. It is considered by the Court that the Plt. Recover against the said Defendant eleven pounds, fourteen shillings and six pence and his costs in the behalf expended and the said Deft in mercy &c. And it is ordered that the Sheriff sell the attached Estate and return an Account of the sale to the court.
