John Strickler married Nancy Kauffman, granddaughter of Martin Kauffman, the Baptist minister mentioned in Sempler's History of Virginia Baptists, and a half sister of Hon. Martin R. Kauffman of Frederick County, member of the Virginia Legislature during the Civil War. She lived to a ripe old age, and was the mother of twelve children.
